Railway Bridge over the Tiber River

A project has been developed for the seismic and structural upgrading of the existing structures of the bridge on the Rome-Viterbo railway line over the Tiber River, in compliance with current railway load regulations.

The bridge, built in the 1920s in reinforced concrete, consists of five spans supported by four piers in the riverbed and abutments on the riverbanks.

The design, developed in a BIM environment, was carried out using a finite element calculation model, through which a dynamic linear field analysis was performed.

The proposed interventions include strengthening the piers and decks, as well as installing seismic restraints and dynamic restraint devices (shock transmitters) designed to ensure the kinematic continuity of the bridge.

Finally, the project includes the construction of a new steel pedestrian walkway.
