PM&D Engineering also handles seismic improvement interventions for existing structures in historic settings. Palazzo Ruffini in Valentano (VT), the birthplace of the famous mathematician, is a significant example. A detailed survey enabled the development of the building’s BIM model, alongside the structural design based on material characterization tests. The building is constructed with load-bearing tuff masonry, featuring characteristic elements such as Roman-style staircases with barrel vaults and wooden beam floors and roofs.
